Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that encourages relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to provide energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing.  It was developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s.  Reiki, deriving from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things, is used all over the world, including in hospitals and hospices, to complement other forms of health treatments. Studies show that reiki treatment may create feelings of: Peace, Relaxation, Security and Wellness.

What will happen during my Reiki session?

During a Reiki healing session, the patient remains fully clothed and usually lies on a massage table. The practitioner places her hands over various energy centers on the patient’s body. Many people report experiencing a feeling of deep relaxation, warmth, “buzzing" type of sensation and/or tingly during their session.  Reiki differs from other touch therapies in that there is no pressure, massage or manipulation involved.
